It is with great sadness that I let you all know that a couple of weeks ago, I learned that one of the ladies in my natural hair e-community, Subbrock, lost her significant other. You may have seen her Fotki and fierce hair; admittedly, she is one of the ladies who showed me what beautiful hair is, so I knew that I could go natural. In short, she’s awesome.
I won’t go into details about the tragedy out of respect for her, but it truly broke my heart. However, on a positive note, the ladies on Naturally Curly started a Chip In account for her in order to provide support for Subbrock, her daughter, and unborn child. If you can, please donate at http://subrock.chipin.com/the-subrock-family.
There is also a thread about the tragedy on Naturally Curly here, with everyone sending Subbrock their support and well wishes. Although the story is extremely tragic, it was amazing to see so many women come together, from all walks of life, of all ages, in order to support a fellow curly. Again, please donate if you can, but more than anything, I just wanted to share the story with you all.

ya, I remember reading the thread about this when it happened… so sad. The positive side of this just shows how tight knit the natural hair community is online. it’s about more than just hair!
oh no, that’s terrible. i haven’t been on naturally curly for a while so i had no idea about what happened to subbrock. thanks for calling attention to her chipin page. i just donated.
Thank you, Kenda! Yes, it’s ridiculously sad, but she seems to be doing as well as expected.
