Over the last year and a half (including the time I had my mohawk and relaxed wash and go), I would say that I’ve tried more than 100 products. Not because I was struggling with my hair, but let’s face it, I have a weakness for things that make me smell like cake and dessert. Fortunately, many of those things also ended up working amazing for my curly fro, so when OnyxxRose asked me to report back, I jumped at the chance. Of course, I always have my HG list, but I wanted to give you guys the best of the best (cue Rocky music). It’s 2011, so let’s all have a great hair year and grow some hair (if that’s your thing)!
“Elle, what the heck?” you may be asking right now…but the MOST important thing to remember is that healthy hair comes from the INSIDE out. There’s no point in spending hundreds of dollars on fancy hair products if you’re going to eat junk all the time and lack the proper nutrition your hair needs to thrive. And what is hair?! Protein! These shakes are fairly low in calories (110-130 cals depending on the flavor) and boast a whopping 23g of protein per serving, which is about the same as a serving of lean turkey or chicken. I drink at least one daily, sometimes two if I need something after I exercise.

Love the list! Although I’m surprised Aloe Vera Gel didn’t make the cut..lol

I love my AV gel, but sometimes it reacts with products and turns my hair white. It’s on my HG list but not a top 10 for that reason.
girl…look at ur fro! :O
reason #6 why you rock:
i also use KCCC with HHC. everyone else swears you have to use KCKT with KCCC and i’m like, “no bitch. you just have to get the hang of using the KCCC and you can use it with other leave-ins!” in the fall, i consistently paired KCCC with HETT underneath and used CD Mimosa Hair Honey over top to ease any crunchies… i’m talking mega soft fat curls! doesn’t work so well in the winter though, and Oyin has been closed for weeks so i can’t re-up on the HHC 😦
tell me Elle… which qhemet product do you like best? i’ve heard good things about the CTDG, BRBC, AOHC, and OHHB. i wantedto try the AOHC, but i hear you like BRBC. why?
LMAO! I just about hit the floor when I read, “No bitch…” Teehee…yea, I actually don’t like KCCC with KT at ALL – my hair shrinks a ton and it’s very crunchy.
I like the BRBC more than the AOHC because it has more water, and on wet hair Izzy is ALL ABOUT the water based products! When I used AOHC on wet hair my hair turned WHITE due to the fatty alcohols in the product, and didn’t dry after HOURS because Izzy wasn’t absorbing the oils. It looked like I had rubbed my head in chalk. No bueno. I don’t get that with BRBC. The Ghee I can take or leave, and I like the Balm but it’s easy to get over hydrated with it.
cool! thanks! i’m looking for something to use on dry hair. i’ve been hearing about Afro Detangler and flax seed gel, and then got all this info on qhemet. i really appreciate it because my hair seems to like water more than oil, so thanks again hun.
