What material is the Sue Maesta Hood? Is it the same as pantyhose? My hair is getting bigger and the bonnet is not keep my hair shape at all. Plus, I have a big head too! LOL Thanks for the advice…
I couldn’t find the material…it’s similar to pantyhose, but not as stretchy and a little softer…I think there is more nylon in the hood.
Just saw one on amazon for 12.99
Yea…Ricky’s NYC is an Amazon vendor.
Do you know where I can get the sue maesta hood?Bonnets and scarfs do not stay on my head throughout the night. I have a big head also, LOL.
I’ve only seen it at Ricky’s NYC.
i saw on another site that you can use the top of pantyhose (cutting them right where the crotch starts) and use that on your hair at night. pretty cheap. i tried it last night and worked like a charm. i too love the dew! elle it was nice to see that even your fab hair is smooshed when you wake up. mine is really smooshed but i guess if you’re doing the right routine you can wake it up pretty easily. thanks for this!!!!
I tried panty hose and it did not work as well for me because my head is big and it was super tight – and even more squished! But yes, it’s definitely an alternative if your head is smaller, lol!
i just ordered the one you featured. you’re right, the panty hose was tight (i guess it depends on where the band sits) and excessively squished my hair. plus i noticed some hairs got pulled in the panty hose. anyway, thanks for posting this!!!
Wow, I’ve never seen the Sue Maesta Hood before… I’ve been looking for something like that. My bonnet doesn’t fit over my hair that well if I’ve had it down.
Great clip, as always!
haha! you are NOT perky in the morning, are you! you look good though, so it don’t matter, lip gloss poppin and all.
i have a SM Hood too, but i mostly use it as a hair band when i do a puff. i had a similar night time routine, but i do use a moisturizer at night, but my hair is almost always frizzy anyways. but it’s soft 😉 these days, i have achieved full pineapple length so that’s what i do at night.
Yea…the people I work with pretty much know not to call me until 9am unless we have a fire drill. Waking up at 5:30 is less than cool. I wish I could do a pineapple but my hair is too tight in just one…it’s too stretched out in the morning! Hopefully by the end of the year.
Your 2nd day hair looks great, but I wonder if the dred sock would work also.
On a side note: based on your review of the CJ Smoothing lotion I ordered it, and it is the best for my short hair. It leaves my hair really soft and shiny. When my hair gets longer, I will definitely buy more of the products you give good reviews on! 😀
I might get a dreadsoc when my hair is longer but I don’t like how it’s not open at the bottom and I’d have to stuff my hair into it. We’ll see though. And I’m glad you like the Smoothing Lotion, it’s definitely one of my faves!
Thanks again! You rock! The moxie is online only? I will look it up on the Curl Mart site.
Yeah, uumm, glycerin is tricky in the Chi-! Sometimes I get awesome hair, and sometimes I get an awesome bird’s nest, ha!
It is, unless they sell it on the ground in the midwest (where they are based).
Sorry, it’s Oyin HAIR DEW, not Honey Dew, ha! I am still waking up. I need a cup of coffee!
Thanks, Elle! I was wondering how you achieved 2nd-day hair. When you first purchased the Oyin Honeydew I asked you if it was like a pink lotion moisturizer (which I hate, ha!), and you confirmed that it provides good moisture. I like it, and every time I use it to refresh I like it, but do you ever have issues with it giving you frizz? My hair is water sensitive, so any water-based moisturizer I use gives me a bit of frizz. Actually, I think most moisturizers are water-based?? Plus, I live in Chicago, which means that I have extremes of humid and dry weather.
Anyway, I would appreciate any insight that you may have!
LOL so many people call it the Honey Dew and it drives me crazy!!! So thanks for correcting. If you have issues refreshing and getting frizz, perhaps an oil spray would work better for you. I use Original Moxie Twist Mist and the Shea Moisture one from Target. In order to be a true moisturizer, a product has to be water (or aloe vera, which is mostly water) based, or contain glycerin (which contains water) – it just needs water in there!
I LOVE Oyin Hair Dew. I hate that I can’t get it on the ground, but it is definitely worth the money. It works on my hair beautifully and it also works on my two girls’ hair and they have fine hair. It adds moisture, shine and softness. I am a little obsessed with it. It is one of my HG products and I feel anxious about it running out and will have to make an order soon.
