Elle is Now on Hair Whip Watch 2011

Soo, I just browsed the Donna Marie site, and she has up the description for the Hair Whip…and boost! It’s going to be glycerin free! I love glycerin free leave-ins (because I have a lot of gels I like to use in summer that contain a good amount of glycerin, and it can get too be too much, and in winter when the dew drops below 30, I don’t really use glycerin)!!! From the site:

COMING SOON! This lightweight, soft hold cream will provide instant moisture, shine and frizz free definition to all hair types! Use this leave-in styling cream alone or use as a moisturizer underneath our styling products. Formulated with humidity fighting ingredients, your hair will enjoy longer lasting styles and softness. Enriched with Macadamia oil, Olive oil, Cupuacu Butter and Aloe Vera Juice for intense moisture and shine! Glycerin-free.

Actually, one of my main issues with the Cocoa Hemp Buttermilk is/was that if I used it in dry weather my hair definitely was no bueno. So I will definitely be trying this one, I hope Izzy eats it right up!

**Yes, I am quite aware I do not need another leave-in. But how ’bout you stay leave-in me alone?** 😉

xoxo

So I’m interested in your views on glycerin in general. I just got a bottle of pure vegetable glycerin, and I have to say I was stunned by the results (I put it in a spray bottle with aloe juice and a tiny bit of leave in conditioner, a tiny bit of apricot oil, and some distilled water to use as a refresher spray). My hair stayed almost exactly the same from sunrise to well after sunset in 100% humidity. I’m about to put glycerin on my own HG list. Thoughts?

There is a video about Dew Point and Natural Hair that should be helpful to you – I explain dew point (more accurate than relative humidity, as it is an absolute temperature and humidity is a calculation based on the current temp. and dew point), humectants, and affects on hair. However, at the end of the day, everyone’s hair is different – I know that heavy glycerin mixes do not work for me, and when the dew is above 60 or so, my hair will get LARGE, lol…and I will have crazy spider web frizz. That’s why I can do glycerin in products but not make my own mix, I’m not skilled enough to get the ratio right.

If someone tells you that you don’t need another leave-in, that is utter blasphemy I tell ya! 🙂 I consider you to be Quality Control, so keep testing and trying for our sake 🙂
