How about making a video showing us how you put them in? I failed so badly at my attempt with curl formers. They’re such a special kind of hassle to work with. And with me it ended up looking really unnatural. Well better keep practicing.

So I totally agree that there is a learning curve with using these. I almost threw mine away when I first got them! However, after about three tries I got the hang of it and can do my whole head in like 30 minutes. (My hair is not as thick as yours though!) I usually wear the curls out or gently pinned up the first day, but what this style is great for is stretching hair for twist outs and bantu knot sets without direct heat. My hair is very soft and smooth but with a little underlying curly oomph (does that make sense?!?) that gives the styles hold without the shrinkage. Don’t give up on them yet…you may really grow to like them as an alternative to wash n gos. Best of luck!!

I agree with Shay! I’ve watched a few videos that make it look so easy and effortless. I can’t see myself spending the time to go through all that just to curl my hair.
    Thanks for the honest review!

Poor Elle… It looks so easy in the curlformers demonstration videos, but I was worried that it might be hard for someone like me who isn’t very adept/coordinated when it comes to styling my own hair (funny I’m pretty good at braiding and doing fun things to someone else’s hair… I think it’s about perspective, hand eye coordination?) The kind of time consuming mess you describe reminds me of why I gave up blowdrying and pressing and curling my hair to get it to look “right”. Kinda takes the time-saving appeal about being natural if you have to struggle that much.
