Sorry I am late with my check in, I just measured my hair moments ago. As before I only measured the crown, it is 8.5 inches, which is a 1/2 inch difference from last month. I did add a Multi-Vitamin, 1000 mcg of Biotin and Vitamin D (I have a Vitamin D deficiency) to my diet. I am not sure if this is normal for my hair because this is the 1st time I really paid attention.

First, thank you for starting this! It has motivated me and my sister to do it together. I got about 3/4in of growth. My hair is at least 2, more like 3 different textures. I am very fair in complexion meaning my skin and hair are very sensitive to the sun. Summer time it gets “fried” by the sun. Plus the crown is a tighter curl pattern. Even though the crown has the longest length when stretched, it often looks the shortest and very dry. Any tips on 1) how to moisturize and protect from the sun and 2) how to stretch out the curls?

Hi there! I will be doing a video soon on summer hair care and protecting hair from the elements. As for stretching curls, hmmm. There are several ways to stretch curls but it sounds like you are referring to stretching only one area, right? Could you either braid that part or put it in a bun while it’s drying (at home, of course)?

Thanks! I will keep an eye out for your video! I have used grapeseed oil in the past as a natural sun block. I’ll try the braid out in the area that is shorter.

Thank you for starting the growth out challenge. I’m going to start also. I have been increasing my massaging, plus I spray rosemary, blackcurrant, sage, horsetail tea mixed with aloe vera juice in my hair. I keep it in the fridge. Exercising such as lots of stretching, toning. Take a multi-vitamin, Evening primrose and Vitamins for hair from Holland and Barrett, biotin, which I take at night. I try to drink a green smoothie, at least twice a day. I have used viviscal in the past and at some point, I will be using it again, as I found it very effective. I will be increasing my fish intake.

Hey Elle! I’ve got about 1/2 inch of growth all around. I will admit I need to DC more, (I’ve been busy, but thats no excuse.) I’ve been more consistent with keeping my ends moisturized, and I also tried Manetabolism vitamins. Right away I noticed hardly any shedding in the shower after finger detangling and combing. I have taken another popular vitamin in the past and I had a lot of shedding and didn’t notice any difference in growth, so I thought what the hell D, give this one a try! You mentioned your face breaking out, I am prone to breakouts so I haven’t noticed much change there. This is my first time participating in a challenge and I am excited, plus this keeps me mindful of taking care of my hair. Lets keep growing!

Woot woot!!! Progress has been made this month, who knew. Averaged .5 in to 1 in of growth across my entire head, for an overall hair length average of 10 in. “What gets measured gets improved.” *amen* Oh, and while measuring hair length still sucks monkey ballz (imho), I took a different tact this time and twisted hair bits before breaking out the tape measure. Your challenge came right on time Elle. Thanks again. 🙂
