Yay I’m glad it worked for you! My hair has definitely been sooo much less tangled since I started doing my wngs this way.

I find that this works well with my transitioning hair. Before, I would never section my hair. I thought my hair was too thin for that. However, now that I’m 4mths post, I’m learning that my hair is actually pretty thick. It was the bone-straight relaxers followed by 30 minutes of hooded dryer time, blow outs and then flat ironing that my “stylist” performed on my head every time I went lol!

I count my blessings for finding this site and LHCF.

Girl, when I discovered the washing-in-sections technique it was LIFE CHANGING! I understand your excitement. My hair is SOOOO thick and dense and before this technique, I’d literally get depressed every time I washed and detangled my hair b/c I knew it’d be at least an hour. Thank the Lord for you tube (and you)!

Izzy is looking fantastic, by the way )

Thanks! Yes, I totally love it. 😀 All this time I thought the steam of water melted tangles away. Womp womp!

Great suggestions for minimizing tangles Elle. Your hair looks fab btw. I know it takes me a great deal of time to wash my hair in sections then apply product. Some reason it feels like I obtain frizz in the process. I have seen vids where they will plait/braid their hair and shampoo/cowash it while it is plaited. I guess a lot of things to play around with.
My Questiong for you: How do you obtain length? Is there a regimen you do to have your hair hang more? Because I get a lot of shrinkage where I would think it could hang more than it does. Any tips would be helpul. 😉

    • HB says:

Honestly, there’s nothing I do to make my hair hang more. I don’t mind shrinkage at all – in fact, I like it when my hair shrinks above my shoulders because when I wear it out I don’t have to worry about it brushing on my clothes. I will say though, Eco Styler elongates my hair a bit, because usually my bangs dry in the middle of my eye and with Eco they dry below my eye.

maybe i will try the washing in sections too… after i detangle i just take the twists out the next morning and wash, but i’ll give it a go and see if there are any positives to it.

I’ve been learning how to properly wash, condition and detangle my hair and the result is almost no SSK, easy detangling sessions, little shedding, even with wng. Sectioning is very important as I have a lot of hair, it’s important to get the products (shampoo, etc) to all of the hair and scalp.

I thought the problem was wng, but it wasn’t. I also have noticed a difference since I started wearing a satin bonnet or pineapple every night. Do you use a satin pillow case?

I love your site. Great info. and I love your spunk.

    • HB says:

Thanks! 🙂 Yes, I definitely use a satin pillowcase. If not, my hair gets SO dry and tangled. It’s terrible! I use my satin pillowcase, put my hair in a ponytail then wear my satin scarf to bed. My bonnet makes my hair too smushed.
